Bijou Bazaar this weekend!!! April 26 & 27 @ Jeumpa D'armo

notice from my kawan-kawan from Bijou Bazaar :)

Dear friends,

The weekend is finally here + Bijou Bazaar is all set to party with you! ;o)

A few highlights …

We are excited that Koko Kaina (www.youtube.com/kokokaina) would be headlining our acoustic session tomorrow. (OMG! It’s tomorrow!) Other talents, who will be supporting her, are:

+ Rashdan Harith (www.myspace.com/rashdanh)
+ Coffee SS (www.myspace.com/coffeess)
+ Hollow Tones
+ Aisyah Hasnaa
+ Ferari Tio Ardi
(we are still awaiting one more confirmation)

The acoustic session will start circa lunch time (read: 1:30 p.m.). Let’s give our local talents their best gig ever tomorrow, folks!

We will also be holding a mini art exhibition by Malaysian young talents, led by Hafiz Hajeedar.

Another to look forward to is THE shopping! :op

There are 20 traders at the bazaar + we do accept credit cards. So, please do make yourselves at home.

Since it was Earth Day on Tuesday, we decided to contribute to the cause by discouraging the use of ‘new’ plastic bags + encouraging shoppers to bring their own shopping bags or re-use old plastic bags. Maybe we can now start adopting this green lifestyle...

According to Vincent Cobb's calculations extrapolated from data released by the United States Environmental Protection Agency in 2001 on U.S. plastic bag, sack, and wrap consumption, somewhere between 500 billion + a trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide each year. Of those, millions end up in the litter stream outside of landfills, estimates range from less than one to three percent of the bags. Vincent Cobb is an entrepreneur in Chicago, Illinois, who launched the Web site http://Reusablebags.com to educate the public about what he terms the "true costs" associated with the spread of "free" bags.

And, finally, Bijou Bazaar @ Jeumpa D’ramo traffic control.

There are limited parking spaces in front of Jeumpa D’ramo. We would like to encourage all to park your cars along Jalan Bangkung. :o)

Come as you are, we are quite laid back here. Come hang out with us!

Hope to see you this weekend!

xoxo:

(Psst! A TV station contacted us late last night wanting to cover the event tomorrow; we are excited + nervous all the same)

Save Our Planet Earth

April 22 is Earth Day....

but seriously, at the rate we damage our living place - the earth, everyday should be Earth Day and things we take for granted, ought to be taken into consideration.

Ok, we folks here who shop secondhand, we are already doing a small bit in recycling, so please don't stop here, there are so much more you can do to help, by doing just a little everyday.

Two lists of to-do for your reference -

Going Green - Ten Things You Can Do This Earth Day

How To Take Action To Reduce Global Warming

There are many many websites and features on the topic but we start with these two for now...

Happy helping...we help ourselves save this place for ourselves, and for our future.
